The Proposal
Virtualis, formerly known as the International Journal and Blog of Technology & Law, was founded in 2020 alongside the introduction of the Technology Law Track. The first Editorial Board was composed of passionate LLB students, who helped their colleagues get closer to the world of academic research and technology law.
We are now taking over the project intending to integrate the same values into our work as the next editorial board. At the same time, we wish to expand the project in a way that generates interest in the field of law and technology among students of different backgrounds.
Our mission is to foster an interactive community centered around the development of technology and its impact on society. In this way, we hope to establish a platform where researchers and students can share their insights, opinions & concerns about technology in their field as well as publish peer-reviewed academic articles on the subject of technology law.
We intend to achieve this through a clear and defined set of practical goals. First, we aim to publish the second edition of the Journal by April 2023, opening the call for submissions right after we have established the full Editorial Board of 2022-2023. Second, we will open submissions for the Blog to students and staff from all faculties and strive towards publishing at least 4 posts per week.
Lastly, we wish to introduce a column in the format of a video segment, where we interview a variety of individuals who are at the forefront of bleeding-edge tech.
We welcome and encourage anyone interested in the topics of Law, Governance, Innovation as well as Artificial Intelligence, Computing Science and Technology as whole to apply for the open positions!
Our timeline gives a clear assessment of how we plan to reach our targets:
- End of October 2022: Board & Editorial Team fully established.
- Beginning of November 2022: Website launch and opening for submissions.
- End of November 2022: First video interview.
- April 2023: Publish the IInd Edition of the “International Journal for Law and Technology” in collaboration with STeP, RUG & Wolf Legal Publishers.
- Beginning of May 2023: Celebratory Event for closing the year and Board farewell
- End of May 2023: Beginning of Selection Process for the 2023/2024 Editorial Board
